Ao and Phom community have resolved to stand together, defend and protect their rightful lands at all cost.
Stating that encroachment into Nagas’ land would not be tolerated over the alleged continued encroachment of Naga lands by Assam along Nagaland-Assam border, the Ao Senden, and Phom Peoples Council (PPC) through a joint press statement said the two apex body of the communities at a meet in Tuli one June 25 have decided to jointly stand and protect their lands.
“The land our forefathers have possessed and inherited since time immemorial and cannot be taken away by any individual or forces adjoining Assam,” the joint press statement said while also adding that it has become imperative to defend and protect the land for the Naga tribes in concern and for posterity as well.
The joint statement also said the people of Assam have blatantly and illegally occupied the two community’s lands but the incursion was tolerated for the sake of peace with humility.
“A time has come where we can no longer tolerate such humiliation any more, but to stand up in defense of our rights” the statement further said.
Affirming to stand united with Naga brothers in protecting and defending its lands, the two tribal bodies have also appealed all other Naga tribal hohos to step forward for the common Naga cause which was essential for existence as a ‘race’ in the world community itself.
