Focus on studies not politics: NLA speaker

Nagaland Legislative speaker, Kiyaneilie Peseyie Tuesday said students needed to focus on studies and should not be involved in politics.
Speaking as chief guest at the 46th Kuda (Dimapur) Angami Students’ Union freshers’ meet, the speaker said time would come for students to involve in political activities therefore when students were in academic field they should concentrate on accomplish greater things not only for Angami community but for Nagas in general through their academic excellence.
On observing Naga people working successfully abroad in place like Fiji and Malaysia the speaker encouraged and challenged the students to travel different places abroad and explore work to be successful.
Extending greetings in the name of all legislators to citizens of Dimapur present at the programme, the speaker acknowledged the presence of Angami community and others including Tenyimia union and tribal bodies.
Also exhorting the students was Savi Liegise, president, Naga Council, who said primary role of students should be “social concern” without which the identity of a student would fade away. While expounding on identity crises in a multi communal place like Dimapur Liegise said one should not be confused with their identity but stick to their own root.
With the nearing of 50th anniversary of Kuda (Dimapur) Angami Students’ Union, Liegise expressed hope that the union would march forward with pride and dignity.
Adorned with traditional attires, Angami students presented colourful songs and dance, besides exhortation by Dito Savi, principal High Mountain School and benediction by Rev. N. Paphino, Angami Christian Revival Church, Dimapur.
The freshers’ meet held at Town hall, Dimapur was attended by members of Angami Public Organisation, tribal hohos, official from education department including school principals, Tenyimia Students’ Union, representatives of Dimapur Naga Students Union and elders.
Kikokha of Greenwood Higher Secondary School and Ketholeno Kense of Patkai Christian College were adjudged Mr and Miss Fresher respectively.
