The voluntary consumer organization Zunheboto (VCOZ) observed ‘World Consumer’s Day’ on March 15. The highlight of the programme was focused on awareness amongst student and conducting seminar, workshop and exposure of immediate needs and attention at schools and colleges. The programme was sponsored by department of legal meteorology and consumer protection, but added that with limited and meager fund, VCOZ was unable to organize a bigger function.
The organization has been taking initiative to create awareness in the entire district since 2001-2002, but has been facing difficulty to create wide public awareness due to lack of assistance.
In Zunheboto district, VCOZ said the consumer dispute Redressal Forum has been unable to perform its much needed service due to absence of district session judge. “Our district general public service had being neglected beyond expression as almost all the public offices un-attended and was become non-functional due to absence of officers and staff. Not only has the development fund being squeezed but also public service department has become defunct”, stated VCOZ. Taking all this into consideration, the VCOZ has appealed the government to intervene and take necessary action for the development and progress of the district.
