8 Naga villages to get award

Eight villages of Nagaland have been selected to be certified as fully sanitized villages by the Government of India under the Nirmal Gram Puraskar Award 2008. A thorough inspection by a central team found that the villages had cent percent sanitized latrines and proper disposal of solid and liquid wastes. President of India Pratibha Patil will hand over the awards to the village heads in a grand function on October 20 at Guwahati. Three officials dealing with the Total Sanitation Campaign, PHED, will lead the team. This was informed by Minister for PHED, Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao, Tuesday while addressing a training programme of PHED technical officials.
