In a case of rash driving, a 65-year-old woman was killed when she was run over by a Maruti car on a footpath near Alder College, Kohima, Tuesday around 5 a.m. According to police, the car (NL-04-4700) driven by one Wanyem Konyak ran over the widow identified as Savi-ii Tseikha of L. Khel Kohima village. Police who arrested the driver said the incident was a case of rash and negligent driving.
Meanwhile, the Lhisemia Youth Organization (LYO), Kohima village, has condemned the incident and expressed concern over frequent road accidents caused by rash driving. LYO president Vivor Miachie-o and general secretary Akhrie Yhome in a press release urged the authority to investigate the accident thoroughly and bring justice to the bereaved family in order to “avoid aggravating the case.”
