DAN has never avoided any issue: NPF

DIMAPUR, APR 23 : Even as the NPCC continued to demand the sacking or resignation of minister for education and State Council Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Nyeiwang Konyak, NPF on Saturday affirmed that the DAN has never avoided any issue in the assembly and that even a special discussion on the education department was set aside in the previous session where the opposition was given all the opportunity without any reservation to voice its views and opinions.
NPF press bureau pointed out that the special discussion was followed by the successful passing of the budget for the year 2011-12. It also stated that the matters raised by the Congress members were “all satisfactorily addressed” by the government. “Why does the Congress leaders repeatedly harp on matters which the assembly has already deliberated upon?” NPF questioned.
It maintained that the DAN leadership has always been transparent and always upheld the sanctity and status of the assembly.
NPF revealed that only six Congress MLAs were present in the House when the budget was passed. It asked if dharnas, shouting slogans in the floor of the assembly, shouting and disallowing the Speaker to function were not “alien culture.” NPF further asked, “Are these habits of the NPCC part of Naga culture?”
Hitting back at the NPCC for commenting on the “internal issues” of DAN and its coalition, NPF said that the state Congress was obviously uncomfortable of the way the DAN coalition has marched on and therefore was always tempted to issue statement after statement on the DAN’s internal issues.
NPF recalled the internal election of the Congress which resulted in violence and disturbance of law and order for the general public and asked why NPCC so bothered about the positive relationship of the NPF with its coalition partners when the Congress cannot set its own house in order. NPF said that the DAN continued to extend support to the UPA in Delhi and that if the Congress leaders in Nagaland were uncomfortable with this arrangement, then it was for the people to realize the state of jealousy and negativity that continued to engulf the NPCC and its local members
NPF said that the Congress in Nagaland, having lost the confidence and mandate of the people of the State, has no option but to resort to rhetoric and publicity stunts to keep itself visible and make its presence felt. It said since the Congress has faced setbacks after setbacks, their only political strategy was practicing and imposing alien cultures.
The press bureau said that the NPF, as a mature and responsible party, has always abstained from commenting on the internal matters of the Congress. NPF said it had refrained from stooping to the level of the Congress and never tried to take any advantage of the internal problems which the NPCC continued to face.
Further, NPF said that the NPCC was also jealous of the position and strength of the DAN Government as it, time and again, makes childish comments on the dynamics of the DAN coalition. It claimed that the DAN coalition has gone from strength to strength and that it was today delivering the goods to the people in an outstanding manner.
Asking the Congress not to undermine the intellect of the Naga people, NPF said that a mature national political party playing the role of the opposition should not and cannot function on rhetoric alone. It asked to Congress to realize that the people cannot be fooled anymore.
