The 6th ASHA module training for ASHAs of Wozhuro/Ralan block was conducted from April 25 to 29. Dr. W.N Ezung deputy chief medical officer and Tongpangmatsung DPM, NRHM organized and supervised the overall trainings.  Chubala, state ASHA nodal officer interacted with ASHAs on the 4th day of the training and assured her moral support and co-operation.
The trainers were ASHA coordinator Bhandari, Lily Mozhui GNM PHC Yanmhon, Thungchanbeni ASHA coordinator Chukitong, Nripeni GNM PHC Sungro and facilitator Gloria ASHA co-ordinator Wozhuro/ Ralan block.A total of 22 ASHAs attended the training.
The module contained useful knowledge on practical skills to be performed in the village like skills on maternal and child care, role clarity and how to organize ASHA work, care of pregnant woman, using nishchay kit, components of ANC, birth preparedness, essential knowledge of birth companion, filling of delivery forms, examination of newborn and home visit, hand washing, measure new born temperature, weight, care of eyes, umbilical cord and skin, support and counselling on breast feed, thermal control, diagnosing and managing hypothermia, management of fever in newborn, planning for work in community.
ASHAs felt that they would be able to perform better as the topics taught to them were a necessity in the village and more over, village community look upon them as trained nurse.  The 5 days training imparted quality knowledge about the basic skills to be undertaken during delivery at village level, expecting that maternal and child health and institutional delivery would improve both at rural and urban sector.
The last batch on VIth module training would be held from May 2 to 6 for Chukitong Block.
Mangkolemba: To train the ASHAs in health care for mother and children NRHM ASHA training on module 6 for Mangkolemba block, Mokokchung was held from April 26 to 30.
During the five days training, ASHAs were trained on diagnosing pregnancy and planning for save delivery, how to care for the newborn, specific role during home visits, mobilizing the community and attending VHND and maintaining proper records.
ASHAs were divided into groups, participating in different activities such as recap, individual presentation and role play based on the module topic- Being an ASHA, Maternal health and Newborn health. The trainers were Watisangla LHV and Akumla ASHA coordinator and BPM of Mangkolemba block and DPM as facilitators. During their field visit to Mokokchung village, ASHAs interacted with pregnant mothers and mothers with newborn babies. ASHAs also distributed ASHA kit, thermometer and baby weighing scale. The next ASHA training would be held from May 3 to 7 for Tuli block at Tuli.
