Kohima police caught an extortionist while two of his accomplices managed to escape Sunday morning. Police also recovered the vehicle which they were using during the time of extortion.
A police team found the accused along with his accomplices extorting money from truckers on NH-2 near IOC around 3 a.m. Sunday morning, police said. On seeing the police, two of the extortionists escaped while the third identified as one Rughuto was apprehended.
Later, police also recovered the Maruti Gypsi (Hard top-NL-07-4448) which the accused were using. It turned out to be a stolen vehicle from Kohima. A case has been registered at South police station and investigation was on to nab other two absconding accomplices.
