NAAC peer team visits Sazolie College

A three-member Peer team, appointed by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, visited Sazolie College, Jotsoma, from November 23 to 25. 
The team comprised of former vice chancellor, TM Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur, Bihar, Prof. Prema Jha, as chairperson; head, Department of Sociology, Bharatidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, Dr. R. Shankar, as member coordinator; and Dr. Rajalakshmi Mishra, retired principal, Rajendra Autonomous College, Balangir, and Gangadhar Meher Autonomous College, Sambalpur, Orissa, as the third member.
During the course of their visit, the team interacted with the various departments, members of the committees/support services, faculty, staff, students and other stakeholders of the college like the governing body members, alumni and parents. 
Besides document verification the team also visited the facilities of the college.
On the first day, the peer team interacted and had a meeting with representatives of the Deptt. of Higher Education, Govt. Of Nagaland, additional director Kuholi Chishi, and Atula B. Aier, State NAAC Coordinatorand representatives of Nagaland University, Dr N. Das, head, Deptt. of English, and Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Dept. of Sociology and university nominee to the governing body of the college.  
The peer team visit concluded with the exit meeting on November 25 which was chaired by principal Dr. Kangzangding Thou. 
Prof. Prema Jha in her speech lauded the college for applying for accreditation despite it being a very young institution. 
“Sazolie College should be called eleven years young and not eleven years old,” she stated. 
She also pointed out the various areas where the college can improve and urged all the stakeholders to continue to give their best and “Rise Ever Higher”, as the motto of the college suggests. 
Prof. Jha later handed over the peer team report to the principal. 
Mention may be made that Sazolie College was established in 2005, by the family members of late Sazolie Peseyie (1914-2001), in his memory. It was established under the aegis of Rüchüniü Academy of Education (RAE), named after his late granddaughter. At present, it offers B. A. in Arts and Computer Education as an additional course. The College plans to introduce more disciplines and skill-oriented courses in the future.
