Manipur Drivers Welfare Association (MDWA) said the allegation leveled against its secretary Tomba Singh by Kohima district truck drivers union, Dimapur district truck drivers’ union, Karbi Anglong Manja truck workers’ and drivers union and Senapati truck driver’s union was “fabricated and baseless”.
Manipur Drivers Welfare Association clarifying to the press release on ‘Truck unions warn MDWA’ published in the local dailies on May 30 stated Singh was contacted over telephone regarding the meeting of May 23 by Dimapur district truck drivers’ union at Dimapur, and accordingly Singh had asked to contact the general secretary of co-ordination committee owners, drivers and motor workers’ union (CCODMWU) regarding the decision in the matter.
Further, Manipur Drivers Welfare Association clarified that Singh never supported the decision of the meeting over telephone as “claimed or assumed” or agreed to induction of MDWA as a member/partner of the association.
Singh have been discharging his duties as a loyal secretary of the association for a long time, stated Manipur Drivers Welfare Association.
