Ghukhuyi village has condemned the raid at the residence of Lhokishe Ayemi of Ghukhuyi village which claimed the life of his son Toki Aye, a class IX student on May 29 at South Point West, Zunheboto.
Expressing shock over the incident, the village head GB in a press release stated that if groups whom they pay taxes for their sustenance, start shooting even at a layman, innocent public and unarmed civilians, then they cannot be expected to fight for freedom or independence.
“Today’s underground are so opposite to peace lovers. Killing of young boy of class IX is a highest crime which cannot be tolerated in today’s civilized society and Christian world.
You claim yourselves as national workers but you are not worthy to be called nationalist,” the release said.
Stating that violence of any form did not have an inch of space in the society, the release also condemned the frequent clashes between factions in Zunheboto and added fighting, blood shedding, and killing between own brothers, meant they were not fighting for sovereignty or freedom but fighting for “murder-land”, and not “Motherland”.
The release further said that in future, the villagers would never allow or remain silent to any groups taking advantage over its common silence for peace and expressed its unflinching support to the four points resolution adopted at Zunheboto on May 30, and also SKK, SRSU, ZRSU, NGOs, public leaders, Hohos, and all peace lovers.
It further urged the leaders of both the factions to discipline their “unruly armed cadres” to avoid further loss of lives.
