Avril Lavigne sparks protests in Malaysia

A Malaysian Islamic group has failed in its bid to have tomorrow’s Avril Lavigne concert in Kuala Lumpur cancelled. The snappily titled Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) called on the Malaysian government to stop the show, but their demand was ignored and the concert will go ahead…
Undeterred, PAS have decreed that they will mobilise their supporters to protest at the event and show their displeasure, hopefully resulting in the concert being cancelled.
And the reason for their anger? The Candian singer, they feel, is simply too sexy in her performances for the nation’s youth to take. PAS leader Nasrudin Hassan says:
“A concert of this nature is not conducive to teach the younger generation to become good citizens, upright and competitive, but instead would weaken them morally and mentally.”
Bearing in mind this is an Avril Lavigne concert, he may actually have a good point there, and if he was moaning about her insipid voice and miniscule talent I’m sure we’d all have a lot more time for his argument.
But to protest that the singer is too sexual? His finger is well away from the pulse on that one. If the erotic goddess Madonna decides to add Malaysia to her world tour, this man’s head will explode.
