NH 39 partially restored

The “sinking zone” between Milestone 173 and Milestone 174 along National Highway 39 has been partially restored with the clearing and cutting of a new alignment only some metres above the “old road”, Kohima SP has informed. SP Kohima, Renchamo P. Kikon (IPS) through a press statement however said the new alignment, being a single-lane road, would be permissible specifically for “UP Heavy vehicles” transporting essential commodities, LPG, P.O.L (Petroleum, Oil & Lubricants) and other perishable commodities etc to other parts of the State and neighbouring Manipur. It said the restriction was necessitated since the repair and restoration works was still in progress. The SP further informed that Bypass road shall continue to be used for other normal and regular traffic, both “up and down vehicles”. It requested the general public and vehicle-users in particular to bear the inconveniences till the two-lane metalled road was completed and sought public co-operation in it.
