Mokokchung bandh on Sept 4

A joint meeting of various NGOs, GBs, All Ward executives and elders from the four villages under whose jurisdiction Mokokchung town falls, resolved to organize a 12-hour bandh in Mokokchung on September 4 from 6 a.m, in protest against the proposed 33 percent reservation of seats for women in civic bodies.
The meeting convened by All Wards Union Mokokchung here on Monday also resolved that the people of Mokokchung would boycott election to Mokokchung Municipal Council till the “irrelevant” sections of Nagaland Municipals Act including land and building tax and women reservation were revoked.
The house further warned that any person or group in Mokokchung town acting against the resolution adopted, would be punished by the authorities of the respective Wards and the Council of the four villages.
