Condemnation over atrocities in Orissa

Oriya Christians of Nagaland has condemned the heinous, criminal atrocities brought upon innocent Christians, in particular Kondhmal and other adjacent districts in Orissa.
According to a release issued by Pradip Tanti, Pastor, Nagaland Oriya Baptist Prayer Fellowship and Dr. B.S.R. Mahapatra, Adviser, it was brought to notice Christians are not behind the murder of Hindu leader Lakshmanand, but by some other militant groups, and went on to add no such forceful conversions into Christianity was done in the recent past.
However it mentioned in the past Oriyas were a great nation having their colonies widely spread out of India in Sri Lanka, Singapore and Java, Bali and Sumatra (present Indonesia), and that Oriyas had no hatred for Christians, since they were looked upon as ‘gentlemen Oriyas’ in Orissa.
Communal extremist militant groups in Hinduism brought this sort of inhuman tragedies and atrocities to innocent Christians in Orissa, it mentioned and at the same time, and shared the sorrow of thousands of innocent Christian victims in Orissa.
“Persecution is a part of Christian life. May the Almighty give solace as well as help in restoring peace in Orissa and innocent victims (including some unfortunate Hindus also) be rehabilitated back and victory to ‘Prince of Peace’ be there. We admire the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for his concern over the matter” the release further added.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Baptist College (NBC) has condemned the current attack on the minority community of Christians in Orissa by the Hindu fundamentalist group. While terming it as a savage and barbaric act, the college stated that such act has no place in the modern civilized world, particularly in a democratic country like India. The college has also appealed the central government to take necessary steps and measures to extend security and safety to the Christians.
The college has also urged the entire civilized world to condemn the situation in Orissa and extend sympathy and concern to all the affected families.
