Dreamz Unlimited is a recently formed theatre group of Nagaland. It is the output of 45 days intensive theatre workshop conducted by National School of Drama, New Delhi in collaboration with North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur. The team comprises of 26 artistes each with a zeal to contribute their best in the world of theatre. The artistes are from different districts of Nagaland like Tuensang, Mokokchung, Zunheboto, Kohima and Dimapur.
Dreamz Unlimited aims at bringing changes in the society through their plays and dramas. Their main focus is also to bring theatre revolution in the state which will bring Nagaland in the map of theatre where other states of Northeast like Assam, Manipur and Tripura are way ahead. The group also aims to nourish the talented Naga youths, who are unable to find platform in the local arena. “The youths today wanted to venture out and discover themselves but due to lack of proper direction and opportunity their talent lays dormant forever” the group in a release said.
‘Technicolour Dreams’ the first evolved play of Dreamz Unlimited which was directed by Rabijita Gogoi, a National Award Winner for her contribution of theatre was a major hit. It is a play about contemporary issues of Naga society with its share of social and political problems.
Nagas have a dream to live in peace, no bloodshed, no corruption, no division among people, no violence and so on. But it only remains a dream forever. This dream of Nagas helped in the evolution of ‘Technicolour Dreams’ and they have already performed in five districts of Nagaland (Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Zunheboto and Wokha) which was sponsored by NEZCC, Dimapur.
Dreamz Unlimited will be traveling to Sikkim in November 2008. They are also invited to New Delhi and Tripura in January and February 2009 to attend and perform in their theatre festivals Theatre is not just about acting but it also includes Set Designing, Costume Designing, Makeup, managing the Sounds and Lights and many more. Everybody in Dreamz Unlimited have different interest and in that way together they function as a Team. Those who have a zeal and desire in this field, ready to work hard and dedicate themselves can be its members.
