Care & Support Society (CSS) Mokokchung celebrated its foundation day on September 27 at Longkumer Kilem.
Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, Asenla Keitzar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung lauded the society for the various programmes taken up by them to create awareness among the masses on the menace of HIV/AIDS and also the initiatives to provide support to the infected individuals. She also stated that HIV/AIDS is growing at an alarming rate in our state and therefore there is a need for every section of the society to work hand in hand and support the NGOs involved. We must also try to do away the stigma and discrimination against infected people through proper information and communication, she further added.
Guest of honour, Dr. Akaba, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung who also spoke on the occasion maintained that Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) along with District AIDS Control Society (DACS) are venturing with various NGOs for awareness campaigns and mobile ICTCs for counseling, blood testing, ante-natal checkup, movie show and immunization. He also mentioned about Anti Retroviral Therapy, which is available in most of the District hospitals.
Official bulletin stated that earlier in the function Imchawati Kichu, Managing Director CSS delivered a brief introduction about the society in the various programmes taken up by the society. Special number by youth department Alempang Baptist Church and skit by child department Mokokchung compound were the other highlights of the function. Government officials, public leaders and Church elders attended the programme.
