Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC) will be organizing Tsokum festival of Khiamniungan community on October 8 with chief minister Neiphiu Rio and President Angami Public Organisation (APO), Mhasizokho Zinyu as chief guest and guest of honour respectively at Noklak head quarter at 9 a.m.
According to K. Khaming, KTC vice president for the first time in history of Khiamniungan the festival would be celebrated regardless of territorial demarcation with joint heads together. The celebration would be attended by the Khiamniungans from all over Nagaland and the eastern (under present Myanmar) to participate in exhibiting the rich culture of the community
P. Longon minister (soil and water conservation and land resource) and S. Heno parliamentary secretary (fishery relief rehabilitation, printing and stationeries), representatives from all Eastem Nagaland Peoples’ organization (ENPO), Eastern Nagaland Students Federation (ENSF), Konyak Union (KU), Phom People Council (PPC), Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC), United Sangtam Likhum Bhumji (USLB), and Chang Khulei Setsang (CKS) will also speak on the occasion,
Further, KTC vice president has requested that restricted holiday be granted to all Khiamniungans serving at different categories and department in Nagaland as the date of festival (actually celebrated on October 5) has been postponed to October 8 due to Sunday being a state holiday.
