Old Age Home observes Elders’ Day

International Elders’ Day was celebrated with the12 inmates of the Kohima Old Age Home, Wednesday. Special Secretary, Home, Zanbemo Lotha graced the occasion as the chief guest.
Speaking at the occasion, Zanbemo Lotha called upon the young generation to honour the elderly for their contributions towards the society. He said that elderly people had stores of knowledge with valuable experiences, and that the present generation was yet to learn many hidden treasures from them. “Human value cannot be replaced by wealth”, he added.
Lamenting that loyalty of children towards their parents was diminishing in the present day, the chief guest asked the young generation not just to observe the day, but demonstrate their genuine concern and love for the elders through deed and actions.
President, Nagaland Senior Citizens’ Forum and Advisor of Old Age Home, H. Hesso, encouraged the elderly people gathered at the programme to be strong and courageous. He urged them to pass on the honest lifestyle and traditions of the past to the next generations. He further said that it was their time to do good to the coming generation.
A sharing for the elders was addressed by pastor Ketouzo Theünuo, while Brig A.K. Singh, Commander, 5 Sector, Assam Rifles conveyed his greetings to the elders. Songs were presented by Mhalelie and friends, youths of Cross Wonder Church, Chandmari, and Mission Christian Revival Church. The programme was chaired by Kevinourhenuo Seyie, advisor, Old Age Home.
The programme was followed by a medical camp arranged for the inmates of Old Age Home. The health camp was led by Dr. Ahokhe, Dr. Amen and Dr. Ato.
