NCF rues killings ahead of ‘match’

Against the backdrop of the proposed ‘Reconciliation’ football match between Naga national workers and Naga civil societies on October 9, the Nagaland Christian Forum (NCF) has expressed displeasure over the continuous killings, especially between NSCN (I-M) and the ‘GPRN/NSCN.’
“Life is precious, and we cannot dance over dead bodies. Unless fighting is ceased immediately and the arms withheld, the Match does not worth its name,” said NCF member Rev. Zhabu Terhuja in a press release
NCF said it was the “cause” and not winning or losing the game that important. It also said though the match might not be played skillfully and professionally, it was also not planned to be a “humorous rendezvous.”
“If committed in true spirit to the proposed game, we hereby make this appeal to the concerned authorities to withhold all confrontation henceforth. Any more action shall be considered a deliberate plan to sabotage the reconciliation endeavour,” NCF added.
Meanwhile, the Forum reminded all players to arrive and report at 10 a.m on October 6.
