A former employee of a construction company was shot dead by unidentified gunmen outside a pan shop, opposite Metro Hospital, Circular Road, Wednesday around 2:35 p.m.
Police quoting eyewitness accounts, said the assailants moving in a white-coloured Bolero fired at the victim from inside the vehicle and then sped away.
Police identified the victim as one Farid Ansari, son of Shadid Ansari, a resident of Zakiesetuo colony, Golaghat Road, from the identity card he was carrying in his pocket.
The victim who died on the spot bore three bullet wounds, one each on the temple, neck and back of the body. Police recovered three empty cases of 7.65 from the spot.
