SCC freshers cum parting social held

18th Freshers cum Parting Social of Salt Christian College was held at Town Hall Dimapur with Dr. K. Chuba, commissioner and secretary of soil and water conservation department, Kohima as chief guest, Khekaho Assumi DMC chairperson and Er Vikheho Chishi, EE PWD, Aboi division, as the guests of honour.
In his address Dr. K Chuba urged the students by quoting a verse from the book of proverbs which read, “You are the salt of the earth, if the salt losses its saltiness, it becomes worthless” and encouraged the students to be the salt of the Nagas. He touched upon the fact that there is no short cut in life except hard work, and every individual has to struggle to fulfill one’s dream. Focusing on discipline and determination as the key to success, he said “discipline is a must to be hundred percent successful”.
Khekaho Assumi, chairperson DMC in his exhortation encouraged the students that no one is ‘intellectually stronger or weaker’ and urged the students to attain quality education, develop personality and to contribute towards the society. He said “success is not attained overnight, but have to toil hard” and urged the students never to be discouraged but to strive harder. He further concluded with his adage “be calm on the surface, but paddle like a devil under the water”. He also donated Rs.20,000/- to the union.
Er. V. Vikheho Chishi, who was also the guest of honour exhorted the students to have determination and discipline to achieve success in life. Pointing out the lecturers and teachers as the architects of the students, he urged them to impart quality education to prepare the students to battle the obstacles of life.
Earlier the programme started with introduction from Rendemo and Kavili assistant general secretary SUSCC and invocation by Rev. Thebemo Yanthan.
Mani Bordoloi, lecturer Education Dept, gave a brief exhortation about the college and also encouraged the students to have aim in life and be inquisitive in order to be someone in the society.
The main highlight of the programme included selection of Mr. and Miss Freshers wherein Orando Yimchunger and Imnainla Ao was adjudged as the winner of the titles.
