Eco-Club educational tour

Children’s Christian School, Eco-Club, Kohima a team comprising of 29 member students assisted by 10 teaching staff and voluntary villagers carried out a one day educational tour at Viswema Village on September 27. The day was spent with high spirits as the students acquired maximum information trekking along the fields, forest and along the river sides, keeping aside their theoretically textbooks for a day and learning many new things practically.
The main objective of the tour was based on afforestation and as such, seedlings and preparations for plantation of the seedlings were carried out by using spades and ‘daos’. The teams also left some remarkable memories by pasting some signboards in villages like Phesama, Jakhama and in and around Viswema village by the roadsides bearing some notable quotations like ‘save the earth by planting more trees’, ‘green environment ensures good health’, ‘flora, fauna is ours, conserve it’, ‘to keep green is keeping life alive’. These signboards were prepared and written by the students themselves prior to the tour.
Further, school authority, staff and students have expressed gratitude to village elders for their assistance rendered financially and physically. The touring team also thanked forest department for providing abundant seedlings of various kind of trees. The tour was sponsored by the ECO-CLUB.
