Stocks ended close to the day’s high on Tuesday as gains in overseas markets triggered bargain hunting. Investors scoured for stocks in beaten down sectors like realty and consumer durables. A website report of the Economic Times on October 21 said that mid and smallcap counters also picked up steam. Stock specific movement was witnessed on the back of excellent earnings declaration in the June-Sep quarter. Bombay Stock Exchange’s Sensex ended 4.50 % or 460.30 points higher at 10,683.39. The index touched a high of 10,750.20 and low of 10,250.23.
