ENSF stages sit-in-protest in 4 districts

Eastern Nagaland Student’s Federation (ENSF) on Wednesday staged sit-in dharna at DC office premise in all district headquarters of Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire districts, as part of its first phase agitation to press for relaxation of at least ten years for teach ers of the four districts from the purview of new recruitment policy for government teachers.
Addressing ENSF volunteers and youth at Mon district headquarter, ENSF general secretary P Methna Konyak alleged that despite repeated representations and reminders to the government on the issue, the latter had turned a deaf to the pleas of the federation.
He also informed that from October 23 onwards, the federation would start indefinite picketing of deputy inspector of schools offices in all four districts, till the “department comes out with an order in accordance to the cabinet decision made on this issue.”
ENSF further warned that the education department would be held sole responsible for any untoward incident that might arise during the course of agitation.
ENSF is demanding relaxation of ten years for teachers of the four districts of Mon, Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire comprising of Konyak, Chang, Sangtam, Phom, Yimchunger and Khiamniungan tribes, from the purview of the new teachers’ recruitment policy, which made it mandatory that every graduate teacher should possess B.Ed degree.
In Tuensang, hundreds of students from Sao Chang College holding placards such as “No relaxation, no recruitment,” “Let us also enjoy govt. employment opportunity” and “New recruitment policy is farce” held the sit-in-dharna in front of the DC’s office. ENSF president YP Chillio told our Tuensang correspondent that the federation would continue its agitation till the government accedes to the demand of the federation.
