Dobashi court gets techno savvy

Computerized system facility for Mokokchung district Dobashi Customary Law Court was formally inaugurated Thursday by Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner, Bendangkokba. He lauded the Dobashi’s role in assisting the district administration for effective governance. He has also appreciated the active role played by the officers and staff of National Informatics Centre (NIC), Mokokchung for initiating computerization facility to the court.
With the inaugurating of computer facility in a traditional court, Mokokchung Dobashi Customary Law Court becomes the front runner to have acquired such facility amongst the Dobashi Courts in the state.
Mention may be made that this Court started functioning in the year 1914 during the then British rule. Since then, all cases and related documents in delivering justice are still practiced in this institution. The then chief justice of Gauhati High Court D. Pathak visited this institution in the year 1982 and recorded thus – “The DBs Court at Mokokchung was established on 1st June 1914. My visit to this court in the 30th June 1982 after a lapse of 68 years is quite an experience. I am very much impressed by the performance and the trouble taken by the DBs Court for disposal of the disputes according to the Customary Law prevailing among the people having jurisdiction of this Court, I expect that the disposal of cases quicker and cheaper in this court. I am satisfied after going through some of the Records that the performance is quite satisfactory” and he attested to use the word “Law” to this institution as the “District Dobashi Customary Law Court” instead of District Dobashi Customary Court.
Pastor Mokokchung town Baptist church Ponen Longchar, offered invocation. Others who spoke at the function included DPRO of Mokokchung Chubalepzk, district informatics officer, NIC Mokokchung Er. Temsu Wathi. Former political assistant to DC Mokokchung, Toshi expressed gratitude to district NIC for fulfilling the long cherished desire of computerization which was initiated during his tenure.
The function was attended by HoDs of various departments, additional district and session judge, principal Law College and notary public of Mokokchung town. Lanuneken, Head Dobashi offered the vote of thanks while I. Asungaba, Dobashi chaired today’s function. Installation of the computer facility was sponsored by the NIC under National e-Governance programme.
