Vigilance Week messages

Governor of Nagaland, K. Sankaranarayanan and state chief minister, Neiphiu Rio have greeted the people of Nagaland on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week which is set to be observed from October 31 to November 4 along with the rest of the country. The occasion coincides with the birth anniversary of Sadar Vallabh Bhai Patel. The Governor in his message reminded that Patel was the man behind integration of All Indian States and also the founder of the Civil Services and administrative set up in the country. “On this occasion we all need to dedicate ourselves to public service and to take steps for eradication of corruption in public life” Sankaranarayanan said. He said the public servants would have to make conscious efforts not to indulge themselves in corrupt practices directly or indirectly in order to regain the trust of the society. He hoped that the occasion would make everyone aware and also better equipped in tackling corruption.
Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio said the Week was meant to remind people of the need for greater resolve to fight corruption at all levels. Rio requested all the Heads of Departments/Heads of Administrative Departments to seriously discuss with their officers the ways and means to ensure that resources meant for development were not misused. He called for judicious use of resources in a pro-poor manner. Rio appealed to the public and Government servants to rededicate themselves towards checking and removing corruption from the society. He also urged the public to bring instances of corruption to the notice of the concerned authorities for necessary action. The chief minister also requested his colleagues and all government servants to co-operate with State Vigilance Commission in curbing corruption.
