St. Joseph College graduation day

St. Joseph College, Jakhama graduation day 2008 was held Saturday at the college premises with commissioner and secretary higher education, FP Solo as chief guest.
Addressing the graduation ceremony, Solo congratulated the graduating students and further lauded the college for maintaining high standards of teaching and excellent results.
“It is the synergy of good management, dedicated teaching and the hard works of students that has sustained the reputation of the college not only in the academics but also in extra curricular activities,” he said and expressed hope that management, faculty and the students would continue to keep the college reputation high.
He also said that having graduate was a big achievement. “It is a very important milestone you have reached. With this achievement you have become a member of an exclusive club of a very small percentage of the people in the society, called the educated class,” Solo asserted. Chief guest also gave away the various awards to the outstanding students.
College principal, Dr. Fr. Isaac Padinjarekuttu delivering annual report highlighted that this academic year the collage has total of 1588 students, including 872 boys and 712 girls, enrolled in the college.
The principal also informed that 174 have cleared the BA examination and 66 B.Com, while 177 and 64 cleared the exams for the HSSLC Arts and commerce respectively.
Meanwhile, the following were awarded in various categories- Tholitho Sociology honours – Governors Gold medal for the Best Graduate, Angumle Lungalang, English honours for Chikrophuyo Memorial award for the Best BA students, Talinaro Longchar , B.Com Honours for Avica Achumi Memorial award for the Best Commerce students and Phikihe K Achumi, B.Com general for the Alumni Association Award for the Best Student.
Highlights of the programme included various skits, songs and dances by students of the college.
