Audition for Nagaland bands for Hornbill National Rock contest will take place today starting 9 am onwards at state academy hall, Kohima.
All aspiring bands have been requested to report at the venue by 8.00 am. Registration starts at 8.30 am where contestants will be given badges and ID card for the competition and later for sound check, informed Neingulie Nakhro event director.
It has been learned there are a good numbers of music bands lined up for taking part in the contest.
The bands will compete for three slots from the state, while bands- Diatribe and Dementia, winners of Nagaland Music Safari, 2008 are already in the top two spots for Hornbill National Rock Contest, 2008. The results of the selected band are expected to be announced the same day, thereafter the results will be published in newspapers.
Any band desiring to compete at Hornbill National Rock contest must face screening/audition. No band will be given credit for past achievements.

The five local bands from the state will join the rest of the bands for the contest starting December 1 till 7 at local ground, Kohima.
The seven-day event is organized by the state government’s Music Task Force (MTF), department of Youth Resources and Sports and the event is managed by XL. The winning band will walk away with a cash award of Rs 5 lakh, sponsored by Airtel. The second and third position-holders will also get win cash prizes, while winners of individual prizes will be awarded in various categories, with the other sponsors awaited.
Meanwhile, screenings for outside bands are also on.
