Miss Nagaland 2008
DIMAUR: Beauty and Aesthetics Society of Nagaland (BASN) would organize the annual beauty pageant ‘Miss Nagaland’08’ on December 6 at State Academy Hall, Kohima. Informing this in a release, BASN president, Kevi Nagi has requested district organizers for beauty pageants to send three contestants each representing their respective districts. It further informed that all participating contestants to report at DUDA Guest House, NH 61, Kohima -Wokha-Mokokchung Road, Kohima on December 1. Forms including the terms and conditions for the contest would be available at Hotel Pine, Kohima and can also be downloaded from www.akasworld.com and www.kuknalim.com in a few days time, the release said. BASN has also informed that regular updates on the contest would be released to the media from time to time. Folksong and dance competition
KOHIMA: The Department of Youth Resources and Sports has organized a competition programme for folk songs and dances for Tuensang district on November 27 at Town Hall. A release by the DYRO Tuensang, Neilhousatuo Kense, stated that winners of the competition would represent the district in the forthcoming State Level Festival which is scheduled to be held at Kohima on November 16 and 17. Therefore, all interested persons between 18-35 years have been informed to contact the district Youth Resources Officer, Tuensang, on or before November 25.
Training for SHGs
KOHIMA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kohima in collaboration with directorate of agriculture conducted two-day training programme on ‘Women in Agriculture’ for Self Help Groups under Tseminyu sub division on November 11 and at KVK on November 12. SMS horticulture, Khekali Sema spoke on the importance of bee keeping, while Keviyieno Zhasa, training assistant, demonstrated on value addition of ground nut and soyabean. The training session was followed by interaction session. Altogether 50 trainees from 10 different SHGs attended the training programme.
Janata Dal (S) resolves
DIMAPUR: State Janata Dal (Secular) executive committee in a meeting held November 10 has resolved to remain as JD(S) or merged to Samajwadi party at the national and state level, as directed by the part high command. Stating this in a release, state unit president, I.S Akhei Achumi said that state unit has decided to the unification of the leaders of two JD(S) party at the national level, one led by former prime minister, H.D Devegowda and the other led by MP and national president, Sureendro Mohan and MP and party leader, Vereendro Kumar. It, however, stated that newly formed JD (S) should be under the leadership of Sureendro Mohan and that he should be elected as the party national president. Meanwhile, the state unit has welcomed the unification of two JD (S) fractions.
