Winding up its election campaign on Monday, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has alleged that the NPF-led DAN government was dividing the Naga society.
Addressing a parliamentary election rally in support of INC candidate, K. Asungba Sangtam, organized by DCC Kohima here outside Congress Bhavan, NPCC president, Pusa alleged that the DAN government failed to contain law and order situation and that factional killings continued unabated in the state.
Pusa pointed out that the state government always evaded the real issue on the Naga political problem saying that the issue was political in nature and not law and order. He said the government’s reply meant that “the DAN government is giving license to kill” and added “this is a divisive policy of the DAN government and deserved to be thrown out.”
On the state chief minister talking about “sovereignty”, the NPCC President wondered as to how a chief minister could talk of sovereignty, when he had taken oath under the Constitution of India. Pusa said the CM should not continue to fool or cheat the people anymore.
INC candidate K. Asungna Sangtam asserted that an MP elected from a national party carried more voice and said he would continue to work for the people and complete the works which he had initiated during his tenure as MP in the 13th Lok Sabha, if elected.
Leader of opposition Chingwang Konyak was confident that the Congress-led UPA government would form the next government at the centre and that Asungba, if elected would hopefully get a ministerial berth in the next government.
Congress MLA Joshua Sumi, convener District Campaign committee alleged that the DAN during their six-year rule had misused the funds that had come from the union government.
