Consumers of Dimapur, Mon and Peren have said that the recent advertisement published in the local media by the BSNL regarding the new mobile connections on post paid and pre-paid to be available in the post offices of all the districts except the mentioned three districts was a “clear discrimination” against the districts.
It may be mentioned the BSNL through its advertisement has said that new mobile connections on both post paid and pre-paid would also be available through the various post offices in all the districts except Dimapur, Mon and Peren.
Some consumers in Dimapur wondered why the commercial capital in the state should be excluded from the facility where the rate of consumption was expected to be higher than that of other districts.
Many consumers in Mon and Peren districts felt that the BSNL should come up with proper explanation on why the three districts were deprived of the facility.
When contacted, DE Mobile BSNL, Chakraborty said it was a “business agreement” between the post office and the BSNL and did not divulge further. Another other official however said that the BSNL was willing to provide the same facility to the three left out districts if they approach the authority with a request.
