NEZCC holds prog committee meet

Programme Committee meeting of NEZCC was held at Conference Hall of NEZCC on August 27. The meeting was chaired by Y. D. Thongchi, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh and Chairman of NEZCC Programme Committee.
The Programme Committee of NEZCC reviewed activities of current year and finalized Plan of Programmes for 2010 – 2011. The Committee has approved to conduct Manipur Festival at Tripura and the Mizoram Festival at Nagaland under the State Cultural Exchange Programme in 2009- 2010.
Director, NEZCC V. Hekali Zhimomi, IAS highlighted the various programmes implemented under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India Schemes during the year 2008 – 2009. She informed the members that NEZCC was able to conduct 79 major Programmes, and participated in 68 programmes within and outside the Zone under NCEP. Under Shilpgram Activities 14 programmes were implemented and 4 programmes/festivals were taken up under Reviving Traditions Scheme. The Centre also sent out 1,268 numbers of artistes for various programmes organized by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Twelve (12) programmes were conducted/ assisted under the Theatre Rejuvenation Scheme, 32 Guru Shishya Parampara Kendras were opened in the North East and 39 Young Artistes were awarded under the Young Talent Scheme across the member States of the Centre.
The Programme Committee has approved to conduct the various programmes under NCEP participation, NCEP Headquarter Programmes, Umang Festivals and Women Programmes, Shilp Utsav, Umang Festivals and Women Programmes, Border Area Programmes and Traditional Festivals under National Cultural Exchange Programme (NCEP) 2010 – 2011 in the NE States. The meeting was attended by the members from Northeastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Smt. Sharodi Saikia, Sangeet Natak Akademi, Assam.
