Even before the dust over the recent murder of a 19-year old Naga girl in Vasant Vihar New Delhi has settled, two Naga boys were assaulted on Thursday in Kotla area and now the latest case of racial attack was reported in Gurgaon where an NE girl was allegedly molested by her show room manager on Friday night.
According to a statement issued by the North East Support Centre & Helpline (NESCH), the manager of the Metropolitan Mall identified as Vijay (30 yrs) molested Sonia (20 yrs name changed) from Manipur after she refused to look at nude pictures on the computer. The incident happened at around 9.20 pm on Friday when the girl was alone in the show room sitting in front of computer. “He forced me to sit and watch nude picture and he grabbed me when I refused to see the nude picture, then he molested me,” Sonia told NE Helpline. Sonia hails from Ukhrul district of Manipur state and belongs to Tangkhul Naga tribe.
The NESCH also said that two Naga girls aged around 20 were abused and pushed into drainage by seven drunkards at Sikenderpur, Gurgaon while returning home from their job on November 3 at around 8 p.m. Both the girls hailed from Ukhrul district of Manipur and belonged to the Tangkhul Naga tribe.
Later that same night, two Tangkhul Naga boys were assaulted after the same seven drunkards passed lewd remarks on them. While one of the Naga boys managed to flee from the scene, the other was severely kicked and punched.
The following day, another boy from Manipur belonging to Paite tribe was also reportedly assaulted by locals in the same locality.
With these three repeated cases of racial attack against the Northeastern people, panic has gripped all Northeast boys and girls living in Gurgaon.

NSUD condemns
The Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD) has strongly condemned what it described as the “act of goondaism” of the locals at Kotla Mubarakhpur, near South Extension-II, New Delhi who threw momos at two Naga boys at a joint food and subsequently assaulted them with bricks and sticks on Thursday. It has demanded the authority to take strong action against those culprits.
The NSUD identified the two victims who hailed from Nagaland as Yanshum Thung (21), a B.A. final year at Dayal Singh College, University of Delhi, and Niuto (23) who is pursuing MBBS from Safdarjung Hospital
The victims suffered serious cheek bone and nose bone fractures as well as head injuries and were hospitalised at AIIMS Trauma Centre. Yanshum Thung whose cheek bones and nose bones were fractured was operated successfully on November 7 at the Trauma Centre. The NSUD through a statement issued by its president, Luikang Lamak termed it as “unfortunate” that such racial attacks were being committed after the recent meeting with Delhi chief minister, Sheila Dikshit by the representatives of the North Eastern students led by the NSUD.
