An auto driver identified as Kasheto Awomi (27) of Hevikhe village under Niuland Sub division was gunned down by unidentified gunmen at his residence in Eralibill Colony, Dimapur at around 7.30 pm on Monday.
According to police sources, the deceased was having dinner when some gunmen came in and shot him at point blank range killing him on the spot. The body bore bullet marks on the forehead, right chest and arms.
Police also recovered four empty shells of AK 47 from the site. Police suspected the incident to be a case of mistaken identity involving factionalism.
