NPF fetes women civic leaders

Nagaland People’s Front (NPF) women wing Dimapur division on Saturday organized a felicitation programme for newly appointed women advisory committee members of DMC Tokheli Kikon, Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) -Meribeni and Medziphema Town Council (MTC) -Anungla Rhetso.
The programme was held at NPF office, Midland Dimapur with MLA & advisor for Sericulture & Cooperation, Azheto Zhimomi as chief guest. He congratulated the new members and assured them of party’s support as they carried out their new responsibilities while pointing out that committee has been set up by the state government mainly to streamline the civic bodies in the state.
He also outlined the state government’s programme of 2010 as ‘year of entrepreneurship’ and urged people to formulate projects to avail various governmental programmes and schemes. While lauding participation of Party women wing, MLA further called upon members to come forward with their grievances and suggestions as he had been appointed to be the mediator and facilitator between the state government and the people.
The newly appointed civic bodies’ advisory committee women members expressed gratitude to the party for their selection and urged for support, guidance and cooperation from party workers. They also assured their commitment to serve the public with the best of their services.
Meanwhile, NPF Dimapur women wing president, Kerei Pfukha expressed optimism that the selection of women members to advisory committees for civic bodies would lead to more women representation in lifting the status of women not only in Dimapur district but all across Nagaland in general. Terming the newly appointed committee members as ambassadors for women, she further called upon them to execute their work with sincerity not only in quantity but also in quality.
The programme was attended by members of NPF women wing under various constituencies in Dimapur district.
