PSU (N) organizes joint tree plantation at Poilwa

Poilwa Students’ Union (N) successfully carried out tree plantation in collaboration with the state forest department on July 31 at Poilwa village under Peren district.
Informing this in a press release, PSU (N) expressed its profound gratitude to the forest department in general and DFO Kohima and Peren for contributing various species of tree saplings towards the union.
The union also appreciated Heineilung ACF in charge of Peren range for personally participating in the plantation programme and also his valuable suggestion to control cattle, burning of jungle, maintenance of weeding and casualty replacement for successful plantation. Moreover, he impressed upon the student that plantation is a great contribution for biodiversity and environmental conservation and encouraged the union to come forward for plantation drive based on the declaration of Peren as ‘green district’ by chief minister Neiphiu Rio and declaration of 2010 as ‘Year of Plantation’ by the forest minister earlier.
The union also expressed its gratitude to the village council, youth organization and individuals for their physical support in making the plantation programme a success.
