Workshop on climate change held in Zunheboto

GTZ consultant conducted a workshop with Agri & Allied Sector on September 11 on the theme ‘Project at Appraisal Mission to Climate Change in NE’.
DC Zunheboto, Kiketo Sema requested the head of offices in the Agri & Allied Sectors to provide adequate information so as to obtain positive development.
Christoph Seldkotter while addressing the gathering said GTZ was a government owned development organization based in Germany and suggested the head of offices on Agri & Allied Sector to encourage farmers to plant more cash crops in jhum cultivation and also increase scale of production to enrich the economy. DPO urged the gathering to plant value added crops in the shifting cultivation and tree plantation in the next 10 years plan so that in the next 10 years it would add more values to shifting cultivation.
DFO Zunheboto provided data regarding forest area i.e open forest and protected forest areas under Zunheboto district besides that, in order to combat plan climate change eco-club has been formed in all schools under Zunheboto where DC Zunheboto is also a member. Several others also spoke on the occasion about remarkable change that was taking place.
