Three farmers’ club launched in Mkg dist

Deputy general manager, M K Mandal, NABARD, Nagaland regional office inaugurated three farmers clubs in Akhoya, Liroyimti, and Anaki villages of Mokokchung District on October 7.
These farmers clubs have been formed under farmers’ club programme of NABARD and attached with Changtongya branch of Nagaland State Cooperative Bank and Tuli Paper Nagar Branch of SBI, Tsudikong town.
Molungs Women and Child Welfare Society (MWCWS), Diphupar, Dimapur has been assigned by NABARD to facilitate the formation and nurturing of these farmers clubs for the next 3 years with grant support from NABARD.
The branch managers of Nagaland State Cooperative Bank, Changtonya branch and SBI, Tuli Paper Mill branch, village council members, Molungs Women and Child Welfare Society staff and a large number of villagers were present during the function.
In his inaugural talk, Mandal stressed on the need to facilitate farmers’ initiatives all over the place to ameliorate farmers’ conditions and contribute to the better economic development of the state.
He shared on NABARD’s initiatives and the support systems that are available for farmers. He also shared on the important role of the banks and the necessity of cooperation between the farmers and the bankers.
NABARD is promoting farmers’ clubs in rural areas to provide focused attention on dissemination of information of various schemes and projects of GoI and state government formulated for the benefit of farmers, transfer of scientific practice of cultivation/ modern technology in the field of agriculture and development through credit.
Manager of Nagaland State Cooperative Bank, Changtongya branch, Helen and manager of Tuli Paper Nagar branch of SBI, Tsudikong town, Bharali, exhorted the members of the farmers’ clubs to make concrete plans and come forward with viable proposals for suitable economic activity.
They also advised members to seek information and to develop better understanding and cooperation with the banking system.
Wangshikokla, secretary, MWCWS assured all support and facility from her Society for bringing development and prosperity in these three villages through the farmers clubs.
Chief coordinators of the 3 farmers’ clubs declared their intention to give their best cooperation with the bank, the supportive government departments, the village authority and the facilitating NGO, to achieve their goals of bringing better socio-economic development in their villages.
After the inaugural function, NABARD conducted the base line orientation training programme in association with MWCWS where different functions, working procedure, do’s and don’ts of farmers clubs were discussed elaborately with the members of these farmers clubs.
