Children’s Day celebrated across the state

Along with the rest of the country, Children’s Day was observed in various districts of Nagaland. In Phek, the occasion was celebrated at local ground Phek with SDO (C) Phek Rozouvolie as chief guest.
In his speech, the chief guest said children were an integral part of the society and opined that unlike in the past, boys and girls today were equal and that preferential treatment should not be made, stated an official bulletin.
He stated if the government recognized the equality of both genders, one should not feel inferior or superior. Short speeches were delivered by SIS Vechisayi, Dr. Watselo T. Mero of health & family welfare, and supervisor ICDS Phek Atsole Khalo.
The programme was chaired by EAC Er. Imokokla while vote of thanks was proposed by GHSS Phek vice-principal R.S. Jadon.
In Mokokchung, Children’s Day was observed at the DC’s Bangalow Mokokchung. DC Mokokchung, Lithrongla G. Chishi hosted the Children’s Day celebration, where around 200 children attended the function.
Chishi in her welcome address, enlightened the children about the significance of the day and encouraged them to work hard and keep their dreams to become responsible citizens in days to come. On the other hand, children presented songs and scripture reading at the programme.
Meanwhile, Chavara Home, Naharbari Dimapur also celebrated Children’s Day on November 14 with former president Naga Hoho Dr. John as chief guest and Nagaland Medical Dealers Association general secretary Basu as guest of honour. Around 100 children from neighboring area participated in the programme.
The day was highlighted by children’s cultural programme.
