The 6th module of ASHA training under Zunheboto district started on February 7 at Chief Medical Officer’s Office for ASHAs under Zunheboto block. Altogether 35 ASHAs from villages under the block attended the five day training which would conclude on February 12.
The modular training being conducted phase wise would cover all the five blocks in the district.
Meanwhile officials from the district programme management unit comprising of Avikali Jhakhalu, DPM, P. Renthungo Odyuo, district media officer, Naro Imchen, accountant and Inahoto Chophi, BPM undertook a supervisory tour of Satakha PHC, where the second batch ASHA training for ASHAs under Satakha block commenced on February 8. The team interacted with trainers and ASHAs during their visit and observed that there was active participation from all the trainees.
The training is primarily intended as a refresher module aimed at building on existing knowledge and the development of new skills in the area of maternal and child health.
In addition field trips and practical demonstrations are also incorporated in the training. All ASHAs under the district would be trained within the next two weeks.
Meanwhile, accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) training of the six blocks of Tuensang district including Tuensang Sadar, Noksen, Thonoknyu, Noksen, Shamator-Chessore and Longkhim-Chare was held from January 18 to February 5 at the conference hall of chief medical officer, Tuensang.
The resource persons for the training were Noksen ASHA co-ordinator Tazunglemla, Thonoknyu ASHA co-ordinator Y. Rebekha Tütsüliu, Longkhim ASHA co-ordinator Sendonglemla Sangtam and medical officer (MO) Thonoknyu Dr. Victor.
ASHAs were trained on various skills including qualities that make an effective ASHA, role during the village health and nutrition day (VHND), maternal health, pregnancy diagnosis, post-partum care, newborn health etc.
During the training, ASHAs were also shown ‘Nanhi Si Jaan’, a short documentary on importance of ANC, post-natal care, child health etc. Altogether 144 ASHAs participated in the training.
