Kiphire Branch of IRCS on Thursday organized a health talk at Good Shepherd High School (GSHS) led by Dr. Kibang, district immunization officer, Kiphire and senior deputy director and Dr. Keviyani, medical officer civil hospital, Kiphire as resource persons.
Dr. Kibang pointed out various common diseases faced by children and called upon students to abstain from junk food and tobacco, which he said was the source of various health problems.
Highlighting on various major diseases he said, Hepatitis B was deadlier than HIV and AIDS and asked students to get vaccinated so as to avert from fatal diseases.
Dr. Keviyani, medical officer CHK also talked on health and hygiene and requested student to keep themselves neat and clean as many diseases are caused by negligence of cleanliness.
He also read out the dos and don’ts to the student’s community.
P. Lipichem Sangtam, honorary secretary IRCS Kiphire branch while giving the keynote address, briefed on the history of Red Cross, its activities, aims and objectives.
He also called on the head of institution, faculties and student to enroll as life members, junior Red Cross and institutional members and be part of the humanitarian movement.
Expressing gratitude to the institution for providing the venue, Lipichem also stated Good Shepherd High school was the first school in the district to avail such an opportunity.
