Aoleang, the main festival of the Konyak’s was celebrated Tuesday at local ground, Mon town, with Tohanba, parliamentary secretary (I&PR, Economics and Statistics as the chief guest and Lalthara, chief secretary Nagaland as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Thohanba pointed out that Konyaks were the first tribe to talk about the “Naga unity”. The Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organization (ENPO) adopted the stand of the Konyaks and at present Nagas has finally stood for Naga unity which the Konyaks had initiated, he said.
He also said that the Konyaks are major tribe not only among the Eastern Nagaland but in the entire Naga tribes, and called upon the Konyaks to be firm in making any decisions and to maintain peace and unity among the Konyaks.
