FONSESA expresses solidarity with H&FW deptt.

Federation of Nagaland State Engineering Services Associations (FONSESA) has expressed solidarity with the officers and staffs of health & family welfare department, who had to shutter office April 11 to protest the threat and attempted robbery by armed miscreants at office premises April 8 last.
According to FONSESA president Er. Chanbemo Lotha and secretary general Er. Moa Aier such threats were regular occurrences in almost all the offices.
“In fact, the situation is even worse in the more far flung areas. In many cases, engineers and officers have faced the brunt of such wrongful activities of armed elements, most of whom claim to be ‘national workers’ of one group or the other,” they said in a joint statement.
The FONSESA said under such circumstances, it was very difficult to diligently discharge ones bounden duty.
“The result is that, it is not only the individual officer(s) who suffers, but the repercussions are effected throughout the society as a whole in one form or the other,” said Lotha and Aier.
The threat and intimidation levels, they said were now so high and systematic, that it was not simply aberrations and was now going beyond the “threshold of pain”.
Asserting that such acts were creating a dysfunctional system, where almost all delivery systems were adversely affected, the FONSESA said it was now high time to take effective and stringent action by the law enforcement agencies to detect, curb and prevent such unlawful activities.
“We also request all the ‘political groups’ to rein in their errant cadres, if any,” the association stated, and urged all responsible to extend maximum cooperation to the police and law enforcement agencies.
It also suggest installing CCTVs in all offices and a structured reporting and information sharing system between departments and the police be put into place, so as to enable the police to build a centralized database of such miscreants, and to take timely action in deterrence, detection and prevention, towards building a more progressive and a safer society.
Two armed miscreants April 8 afternoon reportedly attempted to rob at gun point at the directorate of health & family welfare department. The miscreants, who reportedly claimed themselves to be from the FGN (Peace camper), entered the office of the principal director and demanded 5 % share out of `18 crore.
