Meet on maintenance of election expenditure at Mkg

 DIMAPUR: District election officer and returning officer, Mokokchung, Lithrongla G. Chishi convened a meeting with political parties, contesting candidates and election agent of 26-Aonglenden assembly constituency in connection with maintenance of accounts of election expenditure by the candidate on April 21 at DC’s conference Hall. Addressing the meeting, DEO and RO appealed to all political parties, candidates, their agents and supporters to strictly abide by election commission’s directives saying ‘everything is under surveillance’. Lithrongla said violation of rules and EC’s directives would not be tolerated. Stating that all necessary arrangements were made including security measures for smooth conduct of the election, she sought cooperation of all concerned to make the forthcoming by-election a fair, free and peaceful election. Expenditure observer, Dr. S. S Dhavale while addressing the meeting said it was mandatory for all candidates to open a bank account and all election expenditure be made from the bank account and expenditure maintained in cash register, bank register and register of maintenance of day to day accounts of election expenditure. General observer Nandadulal Bhakat in his speech dwelt on model code conduct and asked all concerned to fully acquaint with directives of election commission.  According to official bulletin, even though the candidates could not attend the meeting, their election agents had threadbare discussions on maintenance of election expenditure and model code of conduct.
