DIMAPUR: Land owners’ union, Doyang hydro electric project, (LOU DHEP) has reiterated the assurance of state chief minister Neiphiu Rio on his maiden visit to Doyang. According to LOU DHEP, Rio assured to raise the level of the water in the dam to that of the reservoir at 333mts to produce 75MW soon as construction of Chubi Bridge was completed.
Former president of LOU DHEP, K. N Odyuo stated that the bridge has been completed and added the state government would get 12% share of equity i.e. 9 MW as per agreement when NEEPCO starts commissioning 75 MW. In this connection, Odyuo in a letter addressed to state chief minister has requested the latter to consider the MoU agreement of 1992 on economic rehabilitation for effected land owners as opted by state government as per agreement drawn between NEEPCO Ltd and state government without LOU DHEP.
Further, LOU DHEP highlighted that owing to frequent transfer of DC Wokha; such grievances could not be addressed, adding the present DC Wokha was the ninth DC to be appointed within 11 years after commissioning of DHEP.
