NPF has alleged that the Congress workers supporting Dr. S.C. Jamir resorted to firing and explosions while voting was going on smoothly at polling station numbers 5 and 6 with the intention to disburse the voters in queue. It, however, said that polling was not disrupted. In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland, the NPF through its director District Level Campaign Committee 26 Aonglenden A/C Mokokchung, Apong Pongener said some Congress workers burst three bombs consecutively at the two polling stations at Arkong ward at about 9 a.m. The NPF said though the culprits were arrested and handed over to security personnel, yet no action was taken. As they knew fully well that the police and other security personnel were not taking any action, the NPF said the Congress workers again resorted to firing from the residence of Dr. S. C. Jamir towards polling stations 5 and 6. Alleging that Dr. Jamir’s main objective was to disturb the peaceful polling for his gainful advantage, the NPF said immediate preventive measures must be taken failing which it would not be held responsible. The NPF claimed that some of its voters sustained injuries and were taken to Civil Hospital for treatment.
