Brad Pitt found his Christian upbringing “stifling”. The 47-year-old actor – who raises adopted children Maddox, nine, Pax, seven, and six-year-old Zahara, as well as biological kids Shiloh, four, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, with Angelina Jolie – admitted he has “issues” with the religious way he was brought up as a child.
He said: “I got brought up being told things were God’s way, and when things didn’t work out it was called God’s plan”.
“I’ve got my issues with it. Don’t get me started. I found it very stifling.”
However, Brad – who plays a father bringing up his family in 1950s Texas in new movie ‘The Tree of Life’ – explained he is keen for his children to see their own upbringing in a positive light, and thinks about how they will feel in everything he does.
He added to People.com: “I think of everything I do now that my kids are going to see when they grow up and how are they going to feel. But they know me as a dad and I hope they’ll just think of me as a pretty damn good actor.”
