In what is seen as a hush-hush visit, Chief of the General Staff, United Kingdom, General Sir Peter Anthony Wall, KCB, CBE, ADC visited World War-II cemetery, Kohima on Saturday. Gen. Wall paid rich tributes to those brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives while defending the invading Japanese force during the WW-II.
Gen. Wall was expected to arrive by chopper but due to inclement weather conditions, he had to travel by road, and reached Kohima at around 8 a.m. where he was received by IGAR (N).
Gen. Wall spent about 45 minutes in the WW-II cemetery and was briefed by the Assam Rifles official present and also by the incharge of the WW-II cemetery.
Later, he returned to the officer mess IGAR (N) and left for Dimapur to fly back to New Delhi.
