Department of social welfare on Tuesday formally launched the Anganwadi worker’s uniform (yellow in colour).
Officially launching it at a program at the directorate social welfare, social welfare director Nochet Aier said Anganwadi workers were the front line workers and soldiers of the department and urged them to be more pro-active in their assigned works at the grass-root level.
Director also expressed hoped that with the introduction of the uniform, the Anganwadi worker’s would work with sense of pride for the most venerable section of the society i.e children.
He also informed a “badge” would also be provided to Anganwadi worker’s and provision to provide uniform to Anganwadi helpers would be launched next year.
In his introductory speech OSD (additional director) Khevito T Shohe said that it was a big day for the department to come with a uniform for Anganwadi workers and with “yellow colour” and called upon Anganwadi workers not to misuse it
Earlier, the function was chaired by programme officer DTH Anthony and vote of thanks by T. Merangtsungba Aier, joint director (SW).
The uniform was funded by the union ministry of women and child development and implemented by the state’s department of department of social welfare.
